ABOUT THE TV PILOT SHOWCASE

On June 15, Harvardwood is excited to present our third showcase for members of its TV pilot writing group. The evening will be sponsored and hosted by Jeff Melvoin, and will consist of four staged readings of excerpts from the best scripts to come out of the program.  All four 15-minute mini-productions will be professionally cast and performed for an invite-only audience of industry professionals.

Last year’s television writers’ showcase, and our recent April features showcase were smash hits, leading directly to career breakthroughs for writers and actors alike.  We are hoping to build on that record to generate even more success stories this time around.

Underground parking at the WGA building is free, and complementary wine & hors d'oeuvres will be served both before and after the event.

ABOUT THE WRITERS PROGRAM

Launched in 2005, the Harvardwood Writers Program is an ongoing series of workshops for film and TV writers in the Los Angeles area. HWP groups meet regularly to discuss and critique original material and to hear from experienced guest speakers in different fields. There are currently four modules: TV Pilots, TV Comedy/Drama Specs, Screenwriting, and Fiction. At the end of each five-month module, finished material is read by industry executives, agents, and/or producers.

ABOUT THE TV PILOT MODULE

The HWP TV Pilot Module is an intensive five-month workshop in which participants develop, write and re-write a TV Pilot from soup to nuts. The program is founded on the two ideas that (1) the most valuable (and difficult to find) resource for young writers to find is a community of committed peers to help them through the difficult process of writing a TV pilot, and (2) that reading and discussing the work of others can be just as valuable a learning experience as discussing one's own work.

In addition to weekly meetings, the HWP TV Module offers a series of guest speakers, panel discussions and workshops to integrate real-world skills and career strategy into the creative discussion, culminating in the annual TV Pilot Script Showcase, where the top scripts from the group are presented via stage reading to an audience of industry professionals.
